KBI UK enhances Auckley's Hayfield Park with sustainable surfacing expertise

As Auckley Parish Council completes the final phase of its park rejuvenation scheme at Hayfield, KBI UK - the original and leading porous surfacing expert - is proud to have supported the project with the installation of high-quality, sustainable footpath surfacing.

Commissioned by Auckley Parish Council, the project focused on upgrading 245 square metres of the pathway network off Hayfield Lane. The goal was to replace worn, uneven footpaths with a safe, accessible, all-weather surface capable of accommodating pushchairs, wheelchairs and local park users all year-round

KBI'S installation team laid 245 square metres of the company's signature KBI Flexipave system across the footpaths surrounding the central play area. To ensure structural longevity at heavy entry points, precast concrete kerb edging was also installed along the main approach path, providing robust edge restraint and preventing perimeter fraying.

Combining recycled tyre rubber with natural stone aggregate, the porous material allows rainwater to drain directly into the sub-base, eliminating standing water and mud build-up around active play zones. Its flexible rubber composition also resists surface cracking caused by ground movement or tree root expansion.

Selected following a competitive tender evaluation that highlighted material durability, environmental credentials and long-term performance, KBI UK surfacing completed the core infrastructure alongside new inclusive play equipment installed by Sutcliffe Play, delivering fully modernised space for the community.
